Multitasking is your best shot at getting more done in a short time, so you may as well become great at it. After all, it’s the entrepreneurial style. Well, multitasking effectively isn’t always a walk in the park, but it’s not rocket science either.
With these nifty ways, you can take multitasking to a whole new and exciting level. Please read on; you will be grateful you did.
It Pays to Plan Well Ahead
Strategic planning isn’t something new to entrepreneurs and avid multitaskers. Always make a mental note of all tasks you need to accomplish and set goals. Even better, write them down in a journal or a piece of paper. Start off with those tasks that are genuinely urgent while you work your way down the list.
Know Your Limits
Trying to juggle so much that you cannot accomplish is a big no-no. In my practice as life and business coach, I’ve seen many people fail terribly at this. Instead, you need to prioritise your tasks and see to it that you are giving more attention to the most critical. If you have an important call to make, for instance; it’s just a no-brainer to read or reply to emails at the same time. You will do more harm than good.
Two Sets of Hands are Better than One
Sure, multitasking on your own is good, but garnering an extra set of hands will kick it up a notch. It’s trivial math: more hands get more tasks done. So, bring someone else on board, perhaps a personal assistant, to lighten the load.
Learn to Stay Focused
You can easily lose track of tasks especially if you have lots of things to juggle. Again, prioritising your tasks can also help you stay focused. With your to-do list, that, to be honest, I call it “Your Personal Plan” you can give more attention to those that matter most. This way, you will work on less critical tasks when your attention as dwindled and you do not end up making huge mistakes.
Take Five – Always
When multitasking, your brain takes the brunt of a beating. That’s why you need to take a break; perhaps a five-minute restroom, rehydrating break or focus your attention on your breathing can do the trick. It’s only this way that you can reinvigorate and reenergize your brain for the next set of tasks.
Keep Distractions at Minimum
If you colleagues are noisy or constantly interrupting, it’s best to invest in a good set of headphones. Log off social media accounts and go offline on your emails if you are looking to multitask without much hassle.
Use Modern Tech
There is a raft of nifty apps and resources you can use to multitask. Trello, for example, is intuitive, easy-to-use and gets things done faster. You may also want to invest in a watch that has a timer.
Wrap-Up
These are just but a few top ways to multitask efficiently. Remember it pays to plan, prioritise, delegate, keep distractions at bay, and staying focused.
This is your time to be productive and give your best to the word through your work.
